St. Andrew's In Italy Venice, Florence, Rome Monday, June 11, 2012  Depart USA by international carrier to arrive in Venice, Italy on Tuesday, June 12.  Tuesday, June 12 The tour begins in Venice, the jewel of the Adriatic.  After checking into a charming boutique hotel, participants will enjoy a walking tour through the heart of this city called “Serenissima.”     Wednesday, June 13 Today's activities begin with a tour of St. Mark’s Basilica including the Pala d’Oro and the Galleria with its display of the original four horses and breath-taking views of the Piazza San Marco, and a tour of the opulent Doge’s Palace. Thursday, June 14 Today enjoy a day trip to Padova, a treasure of a city offering the Scrovegni Chapel painted by Giotto and the historically important and rich church of St. Anthony. Friday, June 15 Today participants travel by EuroStar train to Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance.  After checking into a picturesque hotel, travelers will walk through the charming city, home to the Medici family and Humanism. Saturday, June 16  The vast collection of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque paintings at the Uffizi Galleries and then Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia await the viewing pleasure of participants today. Sunday, June 17 The day is yours.  Enjoy an Optional tour of Tuscan countryside, towns, and wine tasting,  or take a cooking class, shop, or stroll. Monday, June 18 Travel to Rome by EuroStar train and check in to a beautiful hotel in a quiet garden spot in the heart of Rome.  Your tour begins in ancient Rome with a visit to the Colosseum, the Forum, and the Palatine Hill.
